They open large to 74 X 27 inches. Light enough for everyone to carry while traveling or hiking. We do not recommend a lighter silk as they lose strength and will not last. Likewise for mummy liners - there is no real benefit in using a mummy liner to save less than one ounce. A rectangular blend sleeping bag liner is far more versatile and is completely unnoticeable in a mummy bag as the blend is so slick that it moves well with you regardless the size of your sleeping bag. I purchased this item to use as a sheet replacement on my recent trip to Papua New Guinea. I found that the polyester content made it uncomfortable in the hot, humid conditions. This liner would probably be fine in cooler climates.
