I got this towel because it is the right size to take to the gym, but the main feature is the snap on loop. That's what makes it really the right thing for me. I was losing a couple of towels a month because I'd drop them. This way, the towel is attached to my bag but can easily be detached for some purpose. The microfiber is also a good fabric for this situation as well. I bought 3. I use the pouch they come in to organize small gym items, such as headbands, gum, chapstick, and my access key. I love this towel and would definitely buy another! It works so well at the gym. It absorbs a ton of water (especially when I dry my long, thick hair), dries quickly, and folds/rolls up small in my bag. There are cheaper gym towels out there, but I don't think they're as well-made as this one. I just wish I'd had something like this when I traveled to Europe - I had so many experiences with crappy/non-existent hotel towels, and I would have loved something like this.

The towel was great for drying off and took up little space in the back pack. It dried quickly, even in the humidity of El Salvador.

Think of stepping out of your shower and enveloping yourself in a super thick absorbent terry towel. Ahhhh...
This towel will NOT give you anything like that experience. It's like drying off with a piece of thin leather - sort of like a cheap piece of suede. It tends to roll up on you if you try and use it like a normal towel but works much better if you use a blotting action. So why did I give it a high 4 star rating? Because even though it doesn't feel like it's drying you off, it actually dries as well or better than a regular towel. And it's so thin it dries pretty quickly when hung up and dries super quick in the dryer. So for those applications like camping or sailing or even a teeny-weeny bathroom which doesn't have room for those huge Turkish towels it can come in very handy and it gets the job done. The snap hook at the end is very convenient for hanging on pegs. But no one will ever mistake it for luxury.
I got the grey and it bled in the wash. Make sure you wash with like colors. I also thought it might soften up after washing but it came out exactly as it went in.
