"flawed design as matched bags" 2010-06-17By

We just received our "matched" bags and found that they do not match very well. Individually, they are well designed and appear to be fairly well constructed for the price, but when zipped together we found that the zippers on one bag is about 2-3 inches shorter than the other one. Not a big deal in and of itself, but then I realized that the design does not include additional matching velcro for use when they are zipped together! So, we are headed out for the weekend with "matched" bags that will not stay zipped together unless we slip in and remain still all night long which would certainly defeat the purpose of sleeping together. If we had the time, I would send them back, but I suppose we'll make the modifications ourselves.
You would think that the design team would have noticed and fixed this little flaw by now, but maybe they are not campers, or have never actually slept in their products when matched together?
Overall, these are decent bags, but you get what you pay for!

I purchased these sleeping bags for my husband and I for our backpacking trips. We just got back from a trip up river where temperatures at night dip into the low 30's. When we first bought them I was a little worried I was going to be to hot because they are for 0 deg. Actually I was kind of cold, nothing unbearable, but I felt a little chilled all night. My husband said he was just right (he tends to run a little hot in his body temp). Before we go on another backpacking trip, I think I will buy a sleeping bag liner, just to bring a little extra warmth. Also, we did not try to zip the bags together, that probably would have helped since my hubby keeps everything warm :) The quality is good though , they are nice bags, and they came with the stuff sack (yay) just wouldn't call them 0 deg.

These really pack down into something a bit bigger than a football. They don't weigh much, so they're great for backpacking. They unroll to be decently thick, and they did a good job keeping me and a camping buddy warm at night, around 0 degrees, with 1 emergency thermal blanket inside each to make it comfortably warm. Otherwise they would've been slightly cold when at their lower limit for temperature, but good enough to prevent frostbite or hypothermia. I'm not sure how they do when they're zipped together since they were used individually. Overall, I'm happy with this product, it seems to be good quality.
